What is ISP File System?

The ISP File System™ (ISPFS™) is a high-performance shared-disk file management solution that provides fast, reliable access to a common set of file data from two computers to hundreds of systems. ISPFS integrates into your environment by bringing together mixed server and storage components to provide a common view to enterprise file data. The proven ISPFS file management infrastructure provides the foundation for optimizing the use of your computing resources.

Some File System benefits are:

1. preinstalled software packages do not take up disk space allotted to users;

2. upon software updates, the changes come into effect immediately on all VDSs of a user.

VDS owner can modify disk template files. But mind that after modification they will be moved into "private files" and take up a disk space. If a private file is overwritten in disk template, it will not be updated on the VDS. But anyway, it is a flexible solution for virtual servers administration providing means of installation of your own standard software set.

How can I view VDS private files?

VDSmanager control panel enables a VDS owner to define whether a file belongs to disk template or to private files of his virtual server.

Clicking on VDSmanager link you will access the control panel. Enter your "Customer's Zone" and open the "Products" page.  Log on using your VDS unique IP address as "Login", and the root user password as "Password". After authorization, go to the module "Private files".

The module "Private files" allows you to define the files belonging to your VDS, size up the catalogues, and form a clear view of what exactly occupies your disk space.

How can I delete file from my disk template?

If you don't want to see a file in your file system, you can delete it using the standard command:

# rm file_name

How can I recover my disk template files?

As we mentioned above, modifying disk template file, you move it into your "private files". Then, for recovery, first you will have to delete them:

# rm file_name

and then recover them by:

# rm -W file_name

Similarly, removed files can be recovered by using the appropriate command (see "How can I delete files from my disk template?"). Mind that files deleted from the sever are stored in your disk preset. You can view the list of deleted files using the folowing command:

# ls -Wl

Note that deleted files have non-standart attributes "w---------". Let's illustrate all the above said:

# cd /usr/bin
# ls -l yes
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root wheel 3052 12 oct 2005 yes
# rm yes
# ls -lW | grep yes
w--------- 0 root wheel 0 1 jan 1970 yes
# rm -W yes
# ls -l yes
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root wheel 3052 12 oct 2005 yes
